Digital twins on the manufacturing menu – with help from the hyperscalers

ScaleOut Analytics

Only one in 10 global manufacturing organisations are not considering the implementation of digital twins, according to new data from IoT Analytics – down from a third in 2020.

The Germany-based analyst, in its Digital Twin Market Report 2023-2027, has forecast that the global digital twin market could grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of approximately 30% in the next four years.

While the company stresses that these figures are not absolute – the use of...

UK boosts ‘cyber-physical infrastructure’ funding

The UK Government is boosting innovation in cyber-physical infrastructure by awarding £200,000 to the X-Catapult Consortium. This initiative aims to create a vibrant community of tech experts, bridging the gap between industry, academia, and the public sector.

The funding, a result of the Cyber-Physical Infrastructure Ecosystem Building competition launched earlier this year by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), will fuel the development of a robust...

Simulation with digital twins aids decision-making for large systems

What if telematics applications could track telemetry from every vehicle in a fleet, and immediately analyze it to identify issues, such as lost or erratic drivers or emerging mechanical problems? What if airlines could continuously track the progress of passengers during their itineraries and proactively respond to delays and cancellations to reduce stress and smooth operations? What if rail operators could detect impending mechanical failures before a derailment...

Survey: Adoption of digital transformation tech is accelerating

According to a survey of UK leaders conducted by bluQube, the adoption of digital transformation technologies is accelerating.

“So-called ‘future’ technologies, such as robotics or the Internet of Things, have now firmly entered the mainstream for businesses looking to grow and stand out from the chasing pack,” commented Simon Kearsley, CEO of bluQube.

Almost three-quarters (72%) of business leaders report their organisations have adopted mobile technology. An...
