Enea has launched 5G MicroCore for enterprises, a complete and interoperable solution for businesses using private 5G networks for Industry 4.0 purposes.

Industry 4.0 combines emerging technologies such as the IoT, AI, edge, and cloud computing to once again revolutionise traditional industries such as manufacturing. Private 5G networks are key to unlocking Industry 4.0’s potential.

Leo Gergs, Research Analyst for 5G Markets at ABI Research, said:

“As technologies such as automation, robotics, augmented reality, and virtual reality are rolled out to support Industry 4.0 initiatives, enterprises need robust data management capabilities for inter-factory 5G Private networks.

Enea is well-positioned to address this market based on their software-based 5G Core experience within major 5G networks.”

5G MicroCore is built to be cloud-ready from the ground up and features data management capabilities including Unified Data Manager (UDM), Authentication Server Function (AUSF) and User Data Repository (UDR).

The enterprise version of 5G MicroCore shares the same interoperability quality as its operator edition. Enterprises can avoid vendor lock-in and mix products to suit their individual needs.

Roland Steiner, Senior Vice President, Telecom Business Unit at Enea, commented:

“Thanks to our scalable, cloud-native software architecture, we can offer shrink-wrapped, out-of-the-box 5G solutions, unlike some legacy vendors who rely on bulky technology.

With our 5G MicroCore, enterprises get the best of both worlds – a sophisticated 5G Core with telco-grade robustness delivered at the right scale for easy and fast provisioning – that’s why a growing number of vendors, system integrators, and enterprises have turned to Enea.”

The containerised architecture of 5G MicroCore enables simple and seamless edge integration. 5G MicroCore can also work across both private and public clouds including AWS, Azure, and Affirmed UnityCloud.

ABI Research predicts the Asia-Pacific region will pull ahead of the rest of the world in private 5G deployments—accounting for more than 65 percent of global private network revenues by 2025.

Enea is already seeing the appetite for 5G MicroCore in Asia, with several local enterprises using the solution to manage their private 5G networks in smart factories.

ABI Research forecasts that enterprise networks in Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Singapore will be worth almost $7 billion by 2025.
